EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Our faculty, students, and academic staff continued to showcase the incredible breadth of expertise in research and teaching that we have at the College of Letters & Science (L&S). The Departments of Economics, Astronomy, and Physics continue to produce top-tier research and create unique learning opportunities for our students, both in the classroom and in the lab. Each year, our community continues to grow, as more and more students choose Wisconsin and the College of Letters & Science. We remain committed to educating the next generation of Badgers and giving them the wide scope of opportunities unique to L&S. As you know, your support of the Department of Economics continues to help us maintain this excellence in research and teaching. Recent scholarship from our faculty at the Juli Plant Grainger Institute addresses important issues that impact our society today. Our faculty’s range of expertise allows us to conduct research in a diverse range of areas, from topics such as the impact of market concentration on the hospitality sector to the effects of government policies on educational outcomes. Our faculty represent the best and the brightest in economics scholarship, and their commitment to our teaching and research mission has ensured that Wisconsin remains a leader in the field of economics. Your support is crucial to this teaching and research mission and has helped us attract and retain the best and the brightest. Your commitment to L&S has been particularly impactful at the Department of Astronomy. As you may recall, Melinda Soares-Furtado, a former Grainger Postdoctoral Fellow, joined the faculty at the Department of Physics. She has already made an impact on our campus community during her four years at the Department of Astronomy, and I am
