The Rath Foundation - An Enduring Legacy at UW-Madison
Thank you for this opportunity to share how much I appreciate the scholarship awarded to me by the Rath Foundation. It's difficult to imagine where I might be today if not for your generosity. When I think about the best part of my academic experiences, it's always been the people. This institution attracts such selfless and team-focused people; it's a joy to be able to work with them every day as we strive to improve the health of Wisconsin one patient at a time. My time at the UW allowed me to match at my top choice residency, which gave me skills and expertise to be able to return to the UW first as a fellow, and now as an emergency medicine faculty. My current role allows me to care for the population of Wisconsin while being able to share my passion and experience with current medical students and residents on every shift. Receiving such a generous gift allowed me to freely pursue my interests by completing a fellowship after residency and entering into a career in academic medicine without the financial pressures of trying to maximize income in order to repay a mountain of student debt.
