The Rath Foundation - An Enduring Legacy at UW-Madison

The Rath scholarship propelled me as a student to strive and excel in my studies as well as my clinical rotations. The UW was the perfect place for my medical training largely due to the people, atmosphere, collegiality, and top-tier academics offered. My education aptly prepared me to succeed and excel through my anesthesia residency at Medical College of Wisconsin. To honor being a recipient of this scholarship, I contribute to need-based scholarships at the UW. The Rath scholarship provides exceptional students the gift of financial stability along with inspiring and commending hard work and dedication to their future careers in medicine. The scholarship has provided a pathway to pursue my clinical interests and passions without enduring the inevitable financial stress most other physicians experience after graduation. After residency training, I sought out training at a setting outside of my home state and ended up in downtown Seattle. I practice anesthesiology at hospitals that serve complex patient populations. I was thrilled to be able to accept this opportunity in a diverse and expansive clinical practice in spite of the potential economic strain associated with living in this part of the country. Thank you for this life-changing gift that enabled me to pursue my passion and goals as a private-practice anesthesiologist. I am eternally grateful.
