The Rath Foundation - An Enduring Legacy at UW-Madison

The Rath scholarship allowed me the freedom to work only at jobs that were valuable experience for my future career, like the Badger Herald. Thanks to the Rath scholarship, I became a journalist and have been published in the Atlantic, the Guardian, National Geographic, the New York Times, TIME, and numerous other publications. While this career path is not terribly profitable, it is what I always wanted to do, and it would not have been possible with a mountain of student debt. I pay it forward by regularly donating to charities and causes I value and by giving advice and interviews to current UW students. Rath scholarships support hardworking students and help bring top academic talent to the university. They are incredibly important to the academic standing of UW–Madison. Thank you for giving me the support and freedom to pursue my interests and make the most of my undergraduate education. The Rath scholarship was a big part of my decision to study at the UW, an experience I wouldn't trade for anything. Thank you again. You do truly commendable work, and I will always be grateful for your generosity.
