The Rath Foundation - An Enduring Legacy at UW-Madison
The Rath scholarship provided me with opportunities to succeed at the UW, specifically within the Wisconsin School of Business (WSB). As one of 60 freshmen who received direct admission into the Wisconsin School of Business, I immediately was able to take business courses, which helped me become a leader within the school and put me on a fast-track to attaining my actuarial credentials. The Wisconsin School of Business set me up for immediate success in my professional career. Now six years removed from graduation, I am an assistant director and actuary at Northwestern Mutual and am also a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. In recent years, I’ve been able to give back to the WSB, specifically the risk and insurance program, by helping support students taking actuarial exams. Being a Rath scholar was an honor that I never took for granted, and I always wanted to prove that I was a worthy recipient of that honor. This pushed me in my academics and extracurriculars to always do my best and achieve more, and it continues to push me in my professional work to always be a hard worker, a strong leader, a good teammate, and a man of integrity.
