JULI PLANT GRAINGER DISTINGUISHED CHAIR FUND #1
MARZENA ROSTEK Juli Plant Grainger Distinguished Chair
My current research seeks to develop design principles for decentralized markets. One of my recent projects examines how innovation in market-clearing technology can serve as a substitute for traditional innovation in financial products. Another project proposes a market design that allows for a reallocative objective along with the standard revenue objective. My ongoing work develops new methods that enable researchers to account for the endogeneity of the market structure. In 2023, I received the Best First-Year PhD Teacher Award, and I was named a Fellow of the Econometric Society in 2022. I also transitioned from serving on the editorial board of the Journal of Economic Theory to becoming a coeditor at the American Economic Review .
JOHN KENNAN Juli Plant Grainger Distinguished Chair and JPGI Director Emeritus
John Kennan’s recent work deals with aspects of the relationship between government policies and educational outcomes. One recently published paper (joint with Chao Fu and Shoya Ichimaru PhD'20) considers the tradeoff between policies affecting education of children in public schools relative to policies affecting college students. Another recent paper analyzes choices of young adults who decide whether to enroll in college and whether to stay in their home location or migrate to another state, either before or after completing their education.
Professor John Kennan, placement director and Juli Plant Grainger Distinguished Chair, talks with doctorate alumnus Alan Yang at a JPGI PhD Alumni Conference.
