Grainger VIP Impact Report
STUDENT SUPPORT AND PUBLICATION COSTS The Grainger professorship supported bridge funding for doctoral students between funding sources, including external grants and external fellowships. These students are working on a range of topics, including computational methods for shielding and radiation protection of accelerator systems, high-fidelity simulation of advanced microreactors, and state level safeguards. The Grainger professorship also supported open-access publication costs for a student’s first publication, describing an important piece of new open-source software for the nuclear analysis of stellarator fusion energy systems.
